Land exchange paves way for new Claymont transit center, redevelopment of steel site

A developer has donated 15.5 acres of a former steel plant to make way for the development of a new $54 million transit center in Claymont, Del.

An arrangement has been made in which an affiliate of Commercial Development Co. Inc. of St. Louis has given the land for the new Claymont Regional Transportation Center in exchange for infrastructure improvements, such as road and utility work, that will serve the transit center as well as a proposed new mixed-use development called First State Crossing.
