Two of Baltimore’s five largest banks are also among the top SBA lenders in the area.
M&T Bank and Wells Fargo both rank on this week’s List of the top 25 SBA lenders in Greater Baltimore. M&T Bank, for example, remains the top SBA lender in the region with $39.13 million in local 7(a) loans in fiscal year 2018.
A Johns Hopkins report released this year found that small business lending by banks has fallen 32 percent. The report blamed Baltimore’s biggest banks for the decline.
