Whole Foods Market could take over some vacated spaces left by Sears and Kmart stores, according to reports.
According to YahooFinance, the Austin-based grocery store chain is looking at moving into empty commercial real estate spaces that were once occupied by Sears and Kmart stores. That fits in nicely with Amazon’s.com Inc.’s effort to swamp in U.S. suburbs with brick-and-mortar locations that can complement its e-commerce side. Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) acquired Whole Foods in 2017 for $13.7 billion.
