We’re about to try and sell our condo, using the same realtor we used to buy it; we were very happy with her. However, I recall when we bought it, she mentioned that the sellers had been trying to sell it for nearly a year. This is crazy unusual in San Francisco. I don’t recall the reason, if we ever found out; but obviously now that we’re looking to sell, we are concerned that there’s something ‘off’ about the place (though we’ve not discovered anything, in 5 years living here). We will ask her, of course, but I’m worried she won’t disclose everything, because it’s in her interest to get us to put it on the market. My husband thinks I’m being cynical, and anyway it’s in her interest to *sell* it. Should we ask a second realtor for their opinion on the property, and if there’s any reason it might not have broad appeal? Should we get an independent home inspection? See if we can get hold of the listing agent from five years ago, and ask them? Or just trust our realtor?
