Hi, this will be my first home that I buy on my own. It will not be my dream home and I likely won’t stay here for more than a few years, I live in south Florida so the cost of housing is pretty high which leaves me with basically two options for the most part. Condo style apartment or a manufactured/mobile home.
I prefer the manufactured home in just about every way, they tend to be bigger, I will have my own car port, a little bit of a yard, lots more storage space and obviously not having neighbors in every direction. The HOAs tend to be very high in these neighborhoods but at the end of the day I will pay more or less the same as a condo since the principle will be higher with a smaller HOA in a condo apartment.
So? Why do people tell me it’s a bad idea? I know they don’t appreciate in value as much but do they ever decrease in value? A lot of the neighborhoods I’m looking at have waiting lists to get in so it appears that they sell pretty well.
Thank you for your time and any help
