I’ve been looking for a “sizeable” lot to build on. I saw one yesterday that’s 715m2. It’s level and cleared of brush, but will need two fences built with a car entry on the skinny ends. This one is $35k and has been on the market for 5 years.
The second property I fell in love with immediately simply because of the size (976m2), it’s already fully gated, and has several mature trees providing beautiful shade and greenery. The issue is that it’s $85k, when I drove by yesterday there was definitely people living there in the half finished house (two cars, no lock on the gate so even I could have entered, laundry hanging up towards the back of the house. There’s an a/c unit and dish network on a brick home that doesn’t even have windows or doors…. And I couldn’t really tell from the photos, but the unfinished home appears to have a terrible layout. 3 bedrooms and three bathrooms in a very small area with no natural lighting whatsoever. But the yard would be SO perfect for my dog to run around.
Thoughts? Would it be cheaper in the long run to buy the vacant lot and build on it, creating shade in other ways? I’m in Mexico so a)I’d definitely be making a profit by adding structures to this vacant lot when I sell it and b) I wouldn’t potentially have to kick out a homeless family (this is a poor town and I already feel like a rich bitch).
