My husband’s grandmother, (S), is a 1/4 owner with her siblings of a 20 acre property.
We, along with S, would like to buy the rest of the property. The siblings have agreed to sell to us for only 2k an acre.
The property has 20k due for late property taxes. It is already “in lawsuit” (as stated on county property tax website) and I have been told we have 3 months until it is scheduled to be auctioned. There is also a mobile home on the property, considered “Real property”, and being taxed by the county. The mobile home is abandoned and in unlivable condition.
I have called one land loan company, and he said their company would not approve a loan with the mobile home there, and that most probably wouldn’t. Where do I go from here? Who do I need to call to get any kind of ball rolling? This land has been in the family for decades and my husband is desperate to “save” it. I have no idea what my first step should even be.
