I am under contract, inspection done with no issues, appraisal Tuesday with realtor sure that it’ll appraise correctly based on comps. Closing is tentatively set to August 17.
I am in a month to month rental. I’m not sure when to give 30 days notice – on August 1st, or September 1?
On one hand, the realtor and lender are positive the deal will go through, and sellers are highly motivated to move. Giving notice in August would save me $1000 in September rent.
On the other hand, if the deal falls through, I am homeless. I could stay on my mom’s couch, but I have a skittish pet cat to consider and my mom has two pets that aren’t the friendliest to other animals. Rentals are hard to find now.
I’m at a loss, and am getting a lot of different advice. Reddit, what would you do in this situation?
