I’m interest in one of the most popular new communities socal, the builder uses a bidding system where a few months ago people generally won the bid 20-30% above starting bid price. However, they re-released a few home sites and cut the bid starting price modestly. This is about 1/2 through all the phases. I tend to think builders would do everything in their powers to avoid something like this (I.e. offer to buy down points/closing assistance/free upgrades/comp solar etc.) at this time as it indicates a significant softening of demand. Am I reading too much into this?
