First time home buyer here. Looking in the East Bay Area. We started looking for homes a couple months back and we could only find townhouses in our budget(around 550K). We saw a listing on zillow for a 3bed 2bath 1080 sq feet single family home for that price range. The home schools rating aren’t good and it is near a local airport. Also they have heat pump for heating and cooling mentioned. We are thinking that maybe those are the reasons for the low price compared to other units in the area. And also there is a high possibility that there will be offers for at least 50k over the asking price. The max we are thinking of offering is upto $530k. We are looking to stay in the house for at least 5 years for now and with two kids the apartment we are renting currently is too small. Are there any specific things to look for when buying a 1950s property?
