Hi folks, wife and I are buying our first home! We are having a hard time picking between two options. I hope you can give us some insights on which one seems a better idea.
1) kind of a fixer upper, kitchen cabinets are bad. No structural problems. Garden might need some drainage fixing, roof is fine. Basement unfinished Schools grade are 9 and 10, commute to work about 15 min.
2) Gorgeous house, freshly renewed extra bedroom and fully finished basement. BUT the commute on this one is about 15 min longer (double, likely more in hush hour) and the Schools grades are 3.
We don’t have kids, might try in the near future, but despite that, an area with better schools seems like a better investment if we decide to move out in the future.
What is your opinion? Get a ready to move beautiful house but further away and in a bad school zone. Or a house that is habitable but need some fixing in a much better school zone and closer to work?
