What are some specific things I should look for in a NE home compared to a Southern one?

I may be moving to Massachusetts in the Boston suburbia such as Lowell, Chelmsford, Bilerica, etc. if I land a job.

I’ve owned 2 houses so far but only in Florida in Tallahassee and Tampa, so I have general knowledge of what to look for but not on stuff specific to the north/cold weather.

For instance, I have no idea on what are red flags in a basement, or furnaces, or what I need to consider about snow.
