Unusual to need your agent to see a new build?

Never bought or looked at a new build before. There’s a development nearby I’m interested in so I asked about visiting the model home, which on their website says “open Saturday 11-5.” I thought that meant it was an open house style where anyone can walk it without an agent

But they said I need my agent just to walk the house. Kind of annoying bc I just want to walk the house quickly to get a feel for it. Hate having to get the agent involved

Do most new builds require an agent to walk with the buyer?
