UC for 3 months … what’s up?

So we were the runner up in our dream home in NJ. The house has been “under contract” for 3 months now. Apparently the other buyers were securing a VA loan, whereas we were cash buyers. “Apparently” they were coming in over ask, as we were 50k under after the home had been on the market for 5 months with no bites. This long closing … is there any way this means the financial securing isn’t happening? Or there still a chance at the sale not going through? Or am I just asking impossible questions that only the homeowner/buyer know the answers to?! 🥴 ugh I hate that I’m still so attached.
