statistics of injury / death from stairs / steps vs single level homes and impact on home prices

It was sad that Ivana Trump passed away from falling down on stairs. I had 2 elderly relatives who also fell down stairs or tripped on steps, fell, became injured with broken bones, and ended up passing away shortly after that. Tragic.

This dude lost an eye, almost died tripping on stairs. This couple fell together and died close together due to accidentally falling down stairs.

I have never been a fan of homes with unnecessary steps, like a lot of the tri-level homes built in the 90s…I have nearly tripped on walking through some of those homes when visiting relatives in Illinois. My #1 rule has always been to have a single level home with zero steps or stairs, to avoid unnecessary face plants.

Now that we have an aging population, I’m wondering what the statistics on injury / death from stairs are. I’m also curious on how much stairs / steps impact home prices, especially in aging areas where retirees like to retire to.
