So does the listing agent normally move the keys off the premises the day before the recording? Showed up to get keys and my agent discovers the supra and keys are gone.
My agent is calling to find out where keys are. Lo and behold, it’s at the listing agent’s office in the Valley (we’re in Murrieta, CA. The Valley might as well be a plane ride away!).
My agent is visibly annoyed but it seems directed at me, not listing agent (not sure why). She tells me it’s possible to to go pick them up and I stare at her. “Are you doing that?” Nope. She’s on a flight tomorrow and can’t do it. Has no backup to take her place (or at least she refuses to call her office to make arrangements to do so), offers zero apologies for not working this out with the listing agent, and leaves me to figure out how to juggle a hectic work schedule and get the keys to my new home.
Am I being crazy? Was my agent supposed to set up a time to meet the listing agent to exchange keys, remotes and etc? I’m shocked she didn’t know the keys were gone and that the whole closing packet (including her check!) was basically in a different county. Is it really on me to go to the gatdang Valley to finish my agent’s job? And normally I would have had it overnighted, but I needed keys to let crews in to start a remodel this weekend.
It all feels super anticlimactic and a bit infuriated with both agents🙁
