Asking for a friend, since Google hasn’t been very helpful in answering this question. My friend is looking to buy a condo/townhome. A couple developments they’ve looked at (both townhome developments) have had “No Trespassing” signs pretty predominantly displayed at the entrances to the developments. The smaller development they looked at only had one sign, the larger development they looked at had multiple signs around the entrances to the development.
Both are located in areas that seem ok, especially the larger development. The smaller development is located in kind of a mixed area – some of the surrounding homes that are not part of the development are nice and well up kept, others are not as nice. It’s also located near a very low rated elementary school, I think the school got a 3 rating. But the middle school got a slightly higher rating, and the high school got a pretty good rating. I’ve read that sometimes areas with low rated schools have higher crime rates.
Are “No Trespassing” signs a red flag, or are they something my friend should just ignore? We both thought that they probably wouldn’t put up such visible signage unless there was a known issue in the neighborhood, and my friend’s realtor hasn’t been too helpful in providing much insight.
