. I thought I found my first house for 115k and put an offer on it without an inspection. I recognize now that this is dumb. I felt like I wouldn’t win the bid otherwise. Won the no-inspection, no-warranty offer. Currently have put 1000 in earnest money. Closing in ten days.
I decided to do an out of pocket inspection just to be safe and we found out a problem with the furnace. The inspector couldn’t get it to light. I brought this up to my realtor, and asked if we can bargain with the seller for 5k to help me buy a new one. In response, my realtor went to the property and apparently turned on the furnace and showed it on video (I was not there to see it in person). Also apparently the seller was “angry” I had my own inspection and was apparently not told by my realtor that I was doing this. They actually walked in during the middle of the inspection and was quite surprised. Since when does the seller get any say if I spend my own money on an inspection? Wtf?
I don’t like the idea of a furnace working only sometimes. That, and the fact that I have some faulty wiring, sewage issues, and an unstable awning that the inspection revealed, should I just cut my losses and back out? That’s a lot I need to fix and I only have 30,000 to my name… Not sure if this is a wise investment. I’m ok with losing my earnest money.
