Leaning towards purchasing a condo or TH. There is everything from new development to stuff built in the 40s/50s.
Is there a point where something is too old and should be avoided? I’m primarily worried about earthquakes (Bay Area) and fires (multiunit buildings), and whether older building codes would properly address these issues. For example I’ve heard newer buildings have much stricter requirements for fire insulation between units than older, though I am not positive if this is true.
A previous thread I started also had some people saying THs and Condos may not keep up with maintenance in an attempt to keep HOA fees low, so another concern for older stuff.
