I sold my home over a month ago, and today out of the blue I get an email from our Agent claiming we owe them $4k from an overpayment that they unintentionally paid us from the home sale.
Backstory is this is stemming from the “Keller Homes Concierge program”, where Keller hired a contractor to redo our secondary bathroom at no cost to us, and will take payment upon sale of the home. They claim they accidentally paid that to us instead of the contractor.
(Side note that project was an abject disaster and I suggest that no one ever agree to something like that. The work ended up getting done but was shoddy, late, and extremely frustrating)
They said “this has never happened before”.
I asked for a statement/reciept (we never got a detailed one before anyway) to prove this.
For context my agent was awful and I wouldn’t doubt they made some mistake, as he made plenty over the course of selling our home.
What are my options/obligations here?
