I posted a few days ago about a house we are buying that is missing a c/o for the garage. As part of our negotiations, they agreed to turning over stamped architectural plans, so that in the case they don’t follow thru with getting the c/o, we can attempt to get it ourselves. Well, we are scheduled to close on Wednesday and now they are refusing to turn them over, saying they are the property of the architect and we can buy a set from him directly if we want them. What could be the possible motivation for refusing to turn over plans? (their lawyer has been like this every step of the way…sellers agree to something…lawyer puts the kibosh on it). It seems like a big red flag to me.
Is it easy to get plans? Is this something that’s required to be on file somewhere? I have a feeling I’m going to have to haul my ass to the clerk on Monday, which is the last thing I want to do (I’m in NYC…probably gonna be a mess)
