The seller of the house I’m trying to buy (in the UK) put it back on the market because he claims things haven’t been moving fast enough. It’s been 9 weeks since offer was accepted and we’ve done all the surveys already and it’s looking close to being finished. Weird time to freak out. They called me on Friday at 4pm to say we better sign “early next week” and threatened to put it back on the market unless I “get my solicitors to commit to sign early next week”. On a Friday. At 4pm. With no prior indication apart from one complaint about my solicitors being unresponsive (I haven’t had a great time with them either, but 9 weeks is nothing and we are almost done). AFAIK, there is no chain, and the house wasn’t hugely popular to begin with. I don’t know what they are hoping for. What’s this? An attempt at a power move? Should I worry?
