Realtor keeps going MIA but I’m not sure what to expect in a market this hot. He’s extremely busy.

This is my first homebuying experience so excuse me if I sound ignorant.

I found the realtor I’m using through Zillow a month ago. I live in an area with a very hot market. My realtor is very busy, always. He always seems busy…..with other people. Or he’s always in a meeting. Or in a closing.

One time I thought he ghosted me because he said he was going to call me the next day to go see homes, I didn’t hear from him for days….He said his daughter was in the hospital. Okay I felt bad about this. I gave him another chance. It’s not like we signed an exclusive agreement or anything.

He seemed to be okay after that, but days would go in-between hearing from him. He’d text “Sorry I’m in a meeting, I’ll call you back!” then not call me back.

The thing is, when I have his attention I can be on the phone with him upwards of an hour and he’s very nice and knowledgeable, and the reason I think he’s always busy is because he’s doing this same thing with other people.

But then he’ll go MIA for days again, ignore my calls, texts….then call me saying he was sick… and okay he does sound sick over the phone, but dude, this is getting old.

Yesterday in the morning I put an offer on a house I really like. He emailed me the “As Is” contract and I looked it over and signed. Haven’t heard a word back from him after I signed it. Not even a “Oh great you signed it, I’ll keep you posted!”, just silence.

I’m not sure what to expect from a realtor in this market. If he’s so busy I think he shouldn’t be taking on additional clients. He also never asked me to sign any exclusive contract with him so I’m not stuck with him, but like I said when I have his attention he’s a very nice guy and knowledgeable.

I just don’t think I can trust him with time. If I found a listing I like and emailed him and told him I wanted to make an offer, I don’t think I’d hear back from him in a timely matter. Time matters in this market.

I’m scared if I dump him and go with another realtor I’ll experience the same thing if they are all busy like this.
