Pros/Cons of putting fiancé on a lease for co-op

My fiancé and I live together for about two years now and I am not on a lease. I moved into his co-op. Parent purchased the co-op years ago and added him on the lease a while back. Parent and him are on paperwork. Coop pricing goes according to income, and parent doesn’t make much so rent is CHEAP.

When I moved in my partner individually spent over 6 thousand on upgrading the apartment. We have future plans to have a family but he gets upset and says why put me on a lease when rent will go up about $100 bucks a month and we’re throwing money away. I don’t know much about owning property but I don’t feel like he wants to add me on for whatever reason. When we started dating a family member of his told him never put a woman on a lease (in front of me). Parent comes and goes when they need to get mail yet my parent doesn’t have an emergency key. I was promised a set of keys to have for my parents for emergencies but he “lost the keys.” Any financial and property owner advice on what might be going on here? What would cons be to add me? Am I irrational for wanting to feel like I have a say in a place I invested on 6gs worth of upgrades? Any other pros I’m not aware of that I might sell to him?
