When I asked what is going on, this was the explanation I got. The people are betting that the seller would rather negotiate down to the original asking price than start over again.
Four of the last five houses I had an appointment to look at sold before I got in to see it. We’re talking, appointments made within hours of being listed, and a few hours later, getting the call that they accepted an offer.
Agents are doing their listing clients no favors by encouraging the accpetance of these offers. But, I don’t suppose they care.
