Pending vs. Contingent

A unit in our building went up for sale. as it’s essentially a perfect comp for ours, I’ve been keeping an eye on it. It went “pending” on day 4 on the market. I know that under contract usually means an accepted offer and pending is once you release contingencies, but an immediate switch to pending…? Is this likely just an error?
