So I wanted to post this question to get all the experts opinions ( and honest)! We have lived all over the world but are looking at retirement property and home in the Missouri Ozarks ( I don’t want opinions on why we have chosen there ) and I find it is much more common in homes that are 1970 and below to have window units for Ac and wall units for heat rather then an HVAC system. I know that sometimes these older homes simply don’t have the space ( or current owners don’t want the expense) and that some newer home builds utilize a construction type that really requires ductless units ( unless you prefer open ductwork in your ceiling look)- my question is… not accounting for age of the units ( we would replace) are there drawbacks of having window or wall units? Can they be more efficient? Cheaper given that you can install on each level if need be? Should you put in a mini split in these homes? Looking forward to all the answers and opinions! For reference we are looking at the lakes region ( Stockton, Pomme de terre, Truman, all south of I-70) and the home to be less that 2000 sq ft. Thanks!
