Ok to take pre-approval letter from one lender to builder while still shopping between lenders?

Hi, I’m in process of securing a new construction build from a builder and just need to give them a pre-approval letter to secure a purchase agreement/contract with them, which I can then take to the lender to lock a rate.

I’ve been shopping lenders and have received 1 pre-approval letter so far and anticipate a few more with hopefully better rates soon. Is it acceptable/typical to take the pre-approval letter I already received to the builder to secure the home right away when I may switch lenders if I get a better one? Would the builder even care?

First time in this situation so unsure what’s acceptable. Thank you!
