I am under contract on a slab home. I was aware of the sloping floors when I made the offer. Home inspector said that as there was no water in the ducts and no major evidence of movement, it shouldn’t be a concern since it’s on a slab. I hired a structural engineer anyways who initially also thought it was fine despite a slope of 8-10″. He then saw some fixes on the door frame of the room in question and said that the house was still moving and likely needs both piles and cement pumped underneath the slab to raise up the room. He warned me several times when the realtor wasn’t in the room to be careful. I told the realtor I wanted to walk away from the house. The realtor came back and said the sellers would like to work with me. Both my realtor and the sellers’ realtor have hired an additional structural engineer to come out. The sellers intend to offer to either repair the foundation based on the report or reduce the cost of the home based on the cost of repairs.
The rest of the house is a dream but this structural issue scares tf out of me. I figure I will see what the next engineer says and the offer that the seller wants to put in writing.
Looking for advice on questions I should ask, any warnings, anything really.
