Last year, I was forced to move from my house into an apartment rather quickly (Hudson Valley area). With the help of a friend/realtor, I was able to find what I thought was a decent, affordable rental in the area. For the first few months, I was living between two places.
In Feb, I noticed a small roach on my desk. I’m a clean person, and I barely had anything in the apartment. Notified the super (a nice guy btw), and he had the professional exterminator service come in to spray. He didn’t feel it was cause for concern, nor did my friend – who happens wot work in property management. 5 months go by with nothing-all clear! Then, this weekend, I saw a small roach in my bathroom (which is spotless, btw). Obviously I will notify the super.
My lease is up in mid-November. I was probably going to re-sign for a second year. Now, I’m not so sure. Am I overreacting?
Pros:
indoor assigned parking good water pressure old building with thick walls laundry on every floor affordable rent (traditional rental bldng) apartment is big, airy and bright
Cons:
bug issues mentioned above common areas are dingy (halls, stairs, etc) AC not provided No dishwasher
So again, am I overreacting? I know bugs are in every building. What would you do?
