Hey everyone, hoping someone can help with some experience. Family is in the process of building a new construction home in a nice, established community in a great are. My concern here is home appraisal as we are coming in about 50k over original price with our upgrades including a larger lot. Our builder is saying that it’s “extremely rare for their homes not to appraise and that they’ve only had 1 instance before”. They’re a very reputable builder in our area and have built 100s of homes in probably 15 or so communities over the years. I also don’t trust anything they say. Do appraisers take new construction into consideration and not “older” comps in the area? Concerned we get to signing table and have to fork over way more money than we wanted.
