Ok, sorry if this is the wrong sub reddit, but I’m having trouble splitting the rent. Right now me and 4 roommates (5 people total) are renting out a house for 2 years. We all split the rent equally (2800 total, 560 per person (will be increasing to 3,000 this coming up lease)) and we have no problem doing that. Rooms 1-3 have the same layout of a normal sized room and have to share the same full bath. Room 4 is the master bedroom and the reason the person gets the master is because he pays for the internet every month (flat fee of $90). Room 5 is kinda shitty. Half the size of room 1-3, but has his own private bathroom.. We were all fine paying $560 for everyone. The problem arises when the people in room 1 and 2 want their gf’s to move in.
Person in room 4 would just like to still have the now 7 people paying rent, pay an equal rent. People in rooms 1 and 2 would like them and their gf to have a 10% decrease in rent for them since part of their room is now occupied with some one else. If that happens person in room 3 would also like some sort of compensation in rent decrease because he now has to share a bathroom with 4 other people. And person 5 is just kinda there. All he had to say is that if we ended up paying rent by room size he would like a little less pay in rent because his room is so small.
Person in room 3 would not be able to use person 4 or person 5’s bathroom because their own private bathrooms are in their rooms and have opposite sleep and work schedules. So if person 3 needed to shower, he would be coming into person 4’s or 5’s room while they are sleeping.
Any tips on helping how we could split the rent fairly to everyone?
