My fiancé and I are purchasing a house in the Tampa area and our budget is around 330k before taxes and such. We saw 2 houses today we both liked but we can’t agree on one. I wanted to get some other opinions strictly based on some of the major stats of the houses. They are both 3 bed 2 bath
House #1: Year built: 1984 Sq feet heated: 1404 Price: $229k Taxes: $560 (house is homesteaded) On a dead end street of only 8 homes, has a fireplace (a want of mine), no garage only driveway, comes with 2 sheds a large and small one, kind of in a rural part of town, bigger backyard, kitchen needs updated counters and cabinets, larger house, lower price and taxes, close to highway entrance, septic tank
House #2: Year built: 1985 Sq feet heated: 1275 Price: $325k Taxes: $3659 (house is not homesteaded) In a small coastal town within walking distance to the bay/beach/parks/preserves, beautiful kitchen, house needs work in backyard but no interior updating or fixes, 2 car garage, smaller backyard than other house, smaller house, higher price and taxes, city water, roof replaced in 2016, could potentially be used for rental income in future due to being in a coastal/close to beach town
I know these are very basic descriptions, but I’d love to get an idea of how much the renovations would cost generally and how features of a house could hurt or help resale for the future. Based off what I wrote above, which would you choose? Trying to decide between these two. TIA!!!
