My neighborhood just got its first million dollar listing

It’s a new construction home, and I’ve known it was coming because the builder listed and went under contract for an identical home a few streets away for $974k a few months ago. Still feels very strange though because my neighborhood doesn’t have the vibe of a place with million dollar homes. Most of the original houses here are pushing 100 years old if they’re not already that old, mostly single story 2/1s with at least one addition to add a bedroom and/or bathroom.

A lot of people would probably view this as a positive development, but I’m a little cautious and nervous. I know there are plenty of horror stories of people being practically forced to sell and move when a builder zeroes in on a neighborhood.

Is there anything I should keep an eye out for over the next few years? Or do you think it’s a simple case of a builder building some homes?
