Lying about square footage on a house you build on private land?

What if you were to build a few houses on private land. Land that you would never sell to anyone aside from family, all the houses are 2000-3000 square feet but assessed at under 1k. Is there anyway to get in trouble for that and end up paying back taxes many years later?
