My agent and I went to view a home Sunday evening. Planned to reconvene in the morning and submit an offer (it was a late tour). They call in the morning and are told the seller accepted an offer before they called. Told the home sold just barely over list. Ok.
My sister has been my house hunting wing man, and called because she wanted to check it out herself. They tell her the seller accepted an offer Sunday night, but there’s a 14-17 day period for the buyer’s contingencies to be met and she could submit a backup offer.
My agent then follows up, and is told the buyer put down a large amount of earnest money, that there were zero contingencies, and based on what they’ve seen there is zero chance the buyer doesn’t get the home.
And still, the home remains listed and they’re still taking backup offers.
Just felt weird to me, but thought I’d check since I’m still a little new to it all
