Is the railroad responsible for upkeep? If they don’t and I do/have, do I have a legal right to claim?

I recently inherited my father’s home who I’ve been a caretaker for and noticed half of my yard is not my yard according to the deed. Basically the front half is mine but the back half is blank.

I’m finding out tomorrow for sure but I assume it belongs to the railroad since I have tracks running along the back of my yard in a valley. I did not want them expanding to the otherside and figured a weed filled yard with half trees would look inviting.

I’ve had to cut the grass, cut down half fallen trees and do “general property maintenance”,

Besides pride in my yard, I maintained it due to a homeless camp/city until recently being directly on the other side of the tracks/valley.

If this is the railroad’s property or whoever and they are failing to maintain it, do I have a legal right to claim? I may wait until taxes are sent to do this lol
