My fiancé and I are moving down to Louisiana from OREGON because of cost of living prices and because she has a lot of family down there. I will be getting a job as a police officer in Baton Rouge and making around $45k, which goes up to $50k after a year. My question is: is it worth buying a house ASAP in our current economy? House prices are steadily rising, rent is so expensive we are basically already paying a mortgage, and we really want to settle down and begin building our future in a more substantial way. Thoughts?
