We’re selling and our buyers are giving us free rentback on our house for 4 weeks while we prep our move to our new place. We close in October but the agreement to occupy after closing has a stipulation that we need a renter’s insurance policy.
Do most people in this case just take out a short term renter’s insurance policy for the rentback? Our insurance company said that we would be covered by our home policy on our new property (we closed last week so it’s in effect), they equated it to the policy covering you while at a hotel. However they can’t add the buyers as additional insured to our home policy and the agreement stipulates they be added.
