My husband and I went to look at an apartment today and are applying for consideration. The agent handed us an application packet to fill out at home and then told us, “You need to pull a credit report and turn this back in to me.” I asked him how we would do that. With some irritation, he said, “It’s easy. You just go online and do it. It’s like 40 bucks.”
This is new to me. I have never had to pull my own credit report for a rental application. It’s always handled by the agent or rental company. I keep Googling how to do this, but everything either directs me to a free Credit Karma service (I’m fine with free, but I was told this costs money) or a service for landlords to do this for potential tenants. Am I missing something?
