How common is it for an agent to refuse to release you from contract?

I had a situation where the agent started to represent the seller and started to be rude. Today I asked them to release me from the contract with them and the broker (which unfortunately is 1 year). They said “We don’t do that” and showed me a picture of Google saying how you can’t cancel the loan after closing and how “I can sell it if I want”. I repeated again that my request is to be released from contract from the agent and broker and how it has nothing to do with the loan and how I would complain about them to the brokerage.

I called the brokerage and am waiting for a call back. However my question is. I do have it in writing where he says how “These contracts are silly and i wouldn’t cry if you worked with anothet agent. Its just something they ask you to sign.” (I know this is BS and what only matters is the contract, but maybe I can argue about how it was deceptive?)

Now they’re refusing to release me from that contract. I want another agent with a separate company. Do brokerages usually decide that they will make you stay in the contract?
