Home loan and job

My husband and I are looking to buy a home next year in Texas and I want to find a new better paying job. To my understanding it’s best to stay at your job for at least two years to have better chances for a good home loan. Could me getting a better paying job really affect the loan that much? I have been at my current job for about 16 months.
