Garage door opener in mailbox?

I’ll admit it: I’m nosy. My neighbors moved on Friday and I saw their realtor drop by yesterday to take off the lock box and get the keys/garage door openers and whatnot (my neighbor told me this is why anyone should be at the house because the buyers weren’t going to be there for a few weeks supposedly but they might have contractors coming in).

Well today I get a call from my neighbor asking to check if there’s any mail for him that didn’t get forwarded, and there’s not. There’s a letter for the new owner and a garage door opener. I didn’t touch either obviously but I’m curious as to why there would be a garage door opener in the mailbox if the previous owner’s realtor would’ve picked everything up and delivered it to the new owner’s real estate agent?

Any realtors have any insight here? Who would be leaving the opener for whom?
