FTHB in contract and seller’s attorney is taking a long time to review – what to do?

We are FTHB, cash buyers in a part of the country that requires attorneys to close and we are moving cross country. Our seller’s attorney is taking a long time to send the review packet to our attorney (recommended by our buyer’s agent). We have emailed our attorney many times and they kept saying they are waiting for the packet from the seller’s attorney.

Here is what we know so far about timing:

= Our buyer’s agent told us that it takes a month to close for cash, 3 months for financing.

= We were told that seller wants to close by end of this month (June).

= We won the offer exactly a month ago. It will take our attorney 2 weeks after they receive the packet from the seller’s attorney to finalize the sale. We are going to be 2 weeks past the estimated closing date and cutting really close to our move date (from across the country!) Both attorneys are local to the property and each other.

We emailed our attorney again today to see if they can reach out to the other party to check on what is holding them up. Is this normal? Given that we are paying cash to speed things up we are a little disappointed at how slow and inefficient the process seems to be with no communication at all (and no initiative it would seem) from the attorneys to finalize the sale promptly.

What else can we do? It’s a little nerve-wrecking because we are making a big move and timing is crucial. Advice much appreciated!
