I’m selling a one-family house in San Antonio, TX. I lived there for a few years, been renting it out for 3 years because I was in the army and stationed overseas. My tenants have been awesome but they are building their own house, so now I want to sell.
I was all set to use a realtor (I have not signed anything), when my tenant’s brother made a really good offer to buy the house as-is, without realtors. He has spent lots of time at the house and loves it. The idea of selling without a realtor is intriguing and i think I can handle it.
I’ve consulted a couple of lawyers just to oversee everything and make sure I’m doing it right, and they’ve quoted my 2% of the selling price, which to me sounds outrageous for what amounts to just reviewing paperwork and being present at closing. Is this standard? Are there alternatives?
