I bought my first house back in July 2019 (Maryland). It was a foreclosure that needed some work, so I figured i would do renovations while I lived in it so I could flip it down the road. I was able to complete the renovations much sooner than I had thought and with the market so hot right now, I figured it would be a good time to sell. I’m thinking I’ll be ready to put it on the market in 2 weeks or so.
Anywho, with all that said, I’ve never sold a house before! I have no clue what to expect or what to look out for during that process. Could anyone lend me some experience?
A few things: I guess I’m a little worried about realtor fees. I believe I’m likely on the hook for more of those as a seller rather than a buyer, right? Should I go with the realtor that helped me buy the house or should I look around?
I’ve also read something saying that I can dodge sales taxes if the house was my primary residence for at least 2 years. I just hit that marker last week. Anyone know something about this?
Any other pitfalls to consider?
