Need to rant and possibly get some advice on how to proceed.
Me and my fiancee started looking to purchase about a month ago. We have been saving a ton and going without a lot of wants in order to afford this.
We found the perfect house. It has everything we want and was even below our budget. Everything was going great or so we though.
We initially put in an offer on the house and they said how they wanted to work with us and that we could negotiate a deal. We heard back a few days later that, apparently, there was an issue and the roof would need replaced. Their counter offer after this came to light? 5k OVER asking price.
Okay, we thought, if they pay some closing costs and we get the new roof, thats fine. Today we get a text from our realtor saying they added a note that if the new roof isn’t approved through insurance, we STILL AGREE to pay 5k over asking. All of this sounds a bit messed up and like they’re trying to take advantage of first time homebuyers.
SO, thoughts? Advice? Because we aren’t totally sure how to proceed because this is the perfect house but the seller/listing agent are acting really sketchy and it’s a bit weird what is going on here.
