I hope this is the correct place for this post but I graduated university a year ago and due to the pandemic my industry has left me unemployed, without much thought I purchased a real estate course and am now nearly done with it. I’m at the point where I need a broker to sponsor me in order to take my real estate exam so I spent the morning calling 5 brokerages around me. I’ve received either no response or not really any sort of inclination that any of them want to have me. How do I ask a broker to sponsor me and what should I go about doing in order to get that sponsorship for my exam?
I live on the east coast near the DMV area. I am under no illusions that being a real estate agent is neither glamorous, nor easy or high paying. I’m also very very scared to start as a real estate agent because I’m 21 but look about 15 and I’m also a woc in a predominantly white area which has been the cause of a lot of racism throughout my life. I don’t even really want to be a real estate agent but I have to do something with my life and I’m a hard worker, but really I have no other option than to do this and be good enough to survive off of it. Quitting is not an option for me and I already give myself too much tough love so if you’re a real estate agent and have any advice for someone starting out who feels like this is going to be an impossible task because all the online advice I’ve tried to seek to learn more about real estate is screaming “80% of people stop they’re first year” and that it’s incredibly hard and all this has made me feel like I’m drowning before I even start.
