So I’m looking to purchase land in the next 0-24 months to build my next home. I want to start looking now in case something in our current budget pops up. The longer I wait obviously the more I can save.
Do I need to get a realtor that has expertise in this area, or that has the ‘inside scoop’ on certain listings that may not be on MLS? Or will any realtor do? Or should I work on my own without a realtor?
I don’t really need anyone to show me the land, just need someone to:
1) let me know the location of listings in my budget as soon as they pop up so I can check it out,
2) give me general advice on the suitability for building a home, and
3) represent me during negotiations and transactions
I can search zillow, redfin, etc. on my own of course, but is there more that pops up “behind the scenes” for which a realtor would be helpful? Should I find someone who specializes in land transactions or is that not really a thing?
