Do I have to take the 75 hour course for a New York license if I have a California license?

I am about to receive my California real estate license and plan to work here in my home state for at least a couple years. I’m 21 and still live at home saving money, but after a couple years of working I plan to move out.

I would like to move to a major city and while L.A. is a very obvious answer as it’s so close to me I am also greatly considering New York City. Great opportunities for real estate in both cities.

My question is, am I able to bypass the course work for the New York license and just take the exam? I know California and New York don’t have reciprocity, but I read somewhere that if you have equivalent level schooling you can just take the exam and bypass the 75 course.

Anyone know?
